Get the installer from the official SourceForge page. Use the normal 64-bit build on Windows 10 or 11.
Install guide
Equalizer APO is free software. These steps put it on your microphone so you can start using plugins.

Select the microphone
Run the installer. When the Configurator opens, check your microphone under Capture devices. Leave the install mode on the default unless you already know this device needs a workaround.

Restart Windows
The audio driver loads at boot. After the restart, open Configuration Editor from the Start menu. Your capture device should be listed.

Confirm you can hear a change
Add a temporary preamp of -20 dB. If a test recording or Discord mic check gets quieter, the driver is active. Remove that preamp, then head to the library.
If nothing changes
- Open the Configurator again, select the mic, and try Install as SFX/EFX. Restart afterward.
- In Windows sound settings, open the microphone's properties and turn off audio enhancements that fight with the APO driver. Exclusive mode in another app can also bypass it.
- USB headsets sometimes expose two devices. Install onto the one your apps actually use.
