How it works

Equalizer APO sits on the Windows microphone. Apps receive the processed signal, so you set the chain once.

What you are adding

The library has two kinds of tools.

A typical voice chain is: high-pass, EQ, a light compressor, then a gate if the room is noisy. Reverb goes last, and usually stays off for calls.

Import a preset

1

Download the preset

Open the library, filter to Presets, and download a .txt file. Leave it somewhere easy to find, such as Documents.

2

Include it in the editor

Open Configuration Editor. On your microphone device, click the green plus, then Control → Include (include configuration file), and choose the text file.

3

Listen and adjust

Talk, and watch the analysis panel. If the voice is thin, ease off the low cut. If it is harsh, lower the presence boost around 3 kHz. Changes apply immediately.

Load a VST plugin

Download the plugin DLL from the library. In Configuration Editor, click the green plus → Plugins → VST plugin, then browse to the downloaded .dll file. Use the 64-bit VST2 file on a normal 64-bit Windows install.

If the plugin window is blank, confirm you picked the correct VST2 dll and that no other app has taken exclusive control of the microphone.

Equalizer APO's config folder is usually C:\Program Files\EqualizerAPO\config. The Include command can point at a preset anywhere on disk, so you do not have to move the file there.
